For an engine that's been neglected, i like to give it a bit of oil down the spark plug hole before cranking. Not a whole lot, just lubricate the piston rings while the engine's own oil starts flowing again

I have one of those bikes in my garage, waiting to be refurbished. nice work! the one thing that has most recently given me fits is doing a voltage drop test on the ignition system. I was getting a 12 volt reading...... ok, so it has been 15 years since I did this last. I wanted to see .2 volts or maybe even zero..... cleaned and replaced some connectors and now it has spark. on to the carbs.

Is it a good idea to put a few drops of engine oil through the spark plug cavity to lubricate the dry, possibly rusted cylinder before cranking the engine?

Just got my first motorcycle! It’s got 48k miles on it, but doing a front brake overhaul, oil, plugs, fuel tank, and shifter fixes, this thing has ran. Too bad spring break is right now because I can’t start the bike under her own power and own gas tank. (Petcock was bad)

As long as you've got the spark plugs out anyway, spray a generous amount of WD-40 into the cylinder to free stuck rings. Preferably the day before trying to turn the motor over.

as owner of an old RE bullet i'd say: 1 check the spark cable and ignition coil for rust. 2 carefull opening the gas tap, sometimes it can leak. 3 that's it. on these oldies if there's spark and gas, its gonna run!

I have a benelli tnt 25, and i think i have a power drain in the 2 wires that come out of the ignition switch, so please tell me, does those 2 wires have current ( read 13.2 volts )...... A plus, when i connect my battery, the dashboard lights up briefly, is this a normal operation of the system, or do i have a short circuit?

Any ideas on rebuilding brake calipers on the cheap? A set of seals for my bike is something like $100, was wondering what I were to do if they went out of stock one day. It's just an effin piece of rubber at the end of the day. 😕

CB360T, probably one of the most useful and practical bikes ever built for the average city and suburb rider. Easy to handle, frugal, elegant, comfy seat, easy to store, park, nimble, mechanically reliable, cheap to insure because they are some of the safest rider/bikes by a half century of statistics.

The screwdriver trick is handy if you want to check for spark before bothering to pull the plugs out. If it doesn't spark, you know the problem is elsewhere and need not yank the plugs. ~RF9

You forgot one of the most important things, usually the combustion chamber is dry, so in the first runs it's a good idea to "enable" the choke, so that more gas can enter the chamber
