New riders that need help from the internet with safety gear are not ready for the street!!! But you are ready to be a statistic! Be wise and learn by off-road experience or die! Your choice. This guy is just selling product with a smile. Don’t hurt your loved ones with your macho foolishness. That’s just evil🙏🔑🔑

Although not as applicable to beginners on a budget. Klim gear always has full suits of D3O in them.

Why should you clutch with 2 fingers. During my classes I was told to use my 4 instead of two (habit from owning a scooter for 2 years)

Wait, is wearing helmet is optional in the US/Canada, or something? Where I live it's mandatory. (Not agreeing or disagreeing (I believe governments must be much smaller, and laws much fewer), just stating the fact).

I wonder if the higher rate of lower leg/foot injuries might actually be the result of fewer riders prioritizing that element of their gear? I know lots of folks, myself included, who sprang for real riding boots as the last piece of their starter kit.

isnt the whole statistics based asumption that because injury stats are low for those parts of the body you dont really need bike pants/jackets kinda survivor bias ? its low because many people use jackets/pants (or protectors around those areas) to protect those areas...the other areas are high risk because many more people dont wear appropriate protection there, no ?

Personally, i've ride many bike types for many time and the fact that i use to wear a work-type high anchle type of boot (the one with the steel tip) has saved me from getting my feet completely crushed between the bike and the floor, specially with heavy bikes and also makes the gear change more comfortable due to the reforced tip . Very important that the boot is very comfortable specially if you are going for the long rides!

Sunny Nater

I watched that video but don’t remember which one it was. The concept was you only use two fingers and want to always preload the brake, so that way in distress braking, you gradually pull in brake, as opposed to quickly grab a fist full of brake.
Joshua Van Zuydam
Joshua Van Zuydam Prieš mėn
In enduro riding, you use 1 or 2 fingers on the Clutch and break levers. It ensures that you still have adequate grip on the handle bars while using the levers. Most professional Enduro riders will exclusively use one finger on each lever.

Thank you for closing this off with statistical reasoning over emotional. I'm so tired of people having their own feelings be the standard they proclaim as law when the reality is much different. You dont need pants and a jacket to not die in a bike crash. Will it suck more to crash and not have them? Sure, but they're not as essential as something like a solid hemet.

Hey Ryan. Been a fan for a while. Just going through your videos to catch any I may have missed. I'm a beginner rider with around 3 years of rider experience. I ride a Ducati Supersport S. I watch all your gear reviews and you have cheapest then best ect. What I would like to see is best bang for the buck gear. I'm frugal but I will spend extra money if it's worth it. That way you don't have the constraints of price but the viewer gets the best items at any price. Thank you

Just rewatched this video a few months after the first time. I realized you never mentioned serious but not deadly back injuries in those stats... like a broken vertebra. Would you still NOT recommend a decent motorcycle jacket among the beginner's gear if you counted those? I feel naked without it, especially since I (was) crashed last year. - Thanks ! -

DO NOT WEAR MOTOCROSS BOOTS TO YOUR MSF COURSE. They make upshifting near impossible. you can modify where the shift lever sits on any bike you own, but the course will not let you adjust theirs.

My riding jacket is pretty nifty. It's got the quilted inner liner for colder rides, the water-proof middle layer for wetter rides, and the armored mesh outer layer for all rides. In the Summer, I can just stick with the armored mesh. Each layer also has pockets of some type or another, which is nice. It also fits well, doesn't ride up my back and expose the crack, is easy to clean, and doesn't make me look like either the Michelin Man or a Rossi wannabe. Straight-up, it's good for cruising, riding about town, and adventure stuff, and I honestly don't think it would be bad for sport riding as well.
